Blue sky, sun and some of the most beautiful mountains in the world: this is the postcard that arrives from Madonna di Campiglio where the first day of the orienteering “5 Days Italy 2022” was staged.
Over 1,800 people enrolled in an event that combines sport with an aspect of tourist promotion considering that about fifteen thousand people are expected during the week, 90% of them arriving from abroad.
And it is above all the athletes of northern Europe who have registered the “sold out” with some names of great appeal.
For exemple Max Peter Bejmer, fresh off the title in the World Championship in the sprint relay: “It was absolutely extra
ordinary to achieve this result – begins the Sweden runner – And now for me this 5 Days represents a sort of holiday even really I always run to win. We are in a beautiful place and we practically raced under the “3-Tre” the famous slope where Ingemar Stenmark took eight successes making the history of alpine skiing “.
Sara Hagstroem, two world champion in 2021, is one of the best athletes in race: “I am happy to be here in an event that perfectly combines competition with vacation”.
Both were protagonists in the opening round, in the center of Madonna di Campiglio, won by Oskar Sjöberg: behind him ex aequo Jorgen Baklid and Mathias Peter.
If they represent the competitive “top”, it is equally exciting to see so many young guys and girls on arrival, some following their parents, others already projected towards a future full of satisfactions.
At the end the opening ceremony took place in Piazza Sissi, the beating heart of Madonna di Campiglio. The mayors of Pinzolo and Treville and the regional councilor for sport Roberto Failoni did the honors.
Smiling at their side, the president of the organizing committee of the “5 Days” Mauro Gazzerro: “An important effort, but the numbers are proving us right and we can only greet the full resumption of orienteering after the pandemic”.

Cielo blu, sole e le montagne tra le più belle del mondo: questa la cartolina che arriva da Madonna di Campiglio dove é andata in scena la prima giornata della “5 Days Italy 2022” di orienteering.
Oltre 1800 gli iscritti in una manifestazione che coniuga il lato prettamente sportivo ad un aspetto di promozione turistica considerando che nell’arco della settimana sono attese circa quindicimila persone, il 90% in arrivo dall’estero.
E sono soprattutto gli atleti del nord Europa a far registrare il “sold out” con alcuni nomi di grande richiamo.
Tra questi Max Peter Bejmer, fresco di titolo nel Campionato del mondo nella sprint relay: “E’ stato assolutamente straordinario raggiungere questo risultato – esordisce lo svedese – E adesso per me questa 5 Giorni rappresenta una sorta di vacanza anche se in realtà quando io sono in gara lo faccio sempre per vincere. Ci troviamo in un posto bellissimo e abbiamo corso praticamente sotto la “3-Tre” la celebre pista dove il mio connazionale Ingemar Stenmark ha colto la bellezza di otto successi facendo la storia dello sci alpino”.
Non gli é da meno la sua connazionale Sara Hagstroem, bicampionessa del mondo nel 2021: “Sono felice di essere qui in un evento che abbina perfettamente la competizione alla vacanza”.
Entrambi sono stati protagonisti nella gara di apertura, andata in scena nel centro di Madonna di Campiglio, vinta in campo maschile da Oskar Sjöberg: alle sue spalle ex aequo Jorgen Baklid e Mathias Peter.
Se loro rappresentano il “top” agonistico altrettanto emozionante vedere all’arrivo tanti giovanissimi, alcuni al seguito dei genitori, altri già proiettati verso un futuro ricco di soddisfazioni.
Al termine della prova é andata in scena la cerimonia di apertura in Piazza Sissi, il cuore pulsante. A fare gli onori di casa i sindaci di Pinzolo e Treville e l’assessore regionale allo sport Roberto Failoni.
Sorridente al loro fianco il presidente del Comitato organizzatore della “5 Days” Mauro Gazzerro: “Uno sforzo importante, ma i numeri ci stanno dando ragione e non possiamo che salutare la piena ripresa dell’attività dell’orienteering dopo la pandemia”.
