Day 1 of the 3rd edition of #5daysitaly, together with the Opening Ceremony has now taken place!
The sun shone brightly for the happy competitors as they ran around the small town of Paganella in Trentino region. It would be a long sprint, planned by Stefano Raus, with the contours being the main reason for the slow times! But what goes up must come down and there were some fast legs showing off quick descending skills. It was full concentration until the end with intricate walls, passages and some fiendish dead-ends to be handled whilst heading up and down towards the final control in the picturesque town.
The Opening Ceremony was a lively affair with band and presentation of the many countries present. Speeches from important stakeholders were given and awards presented to those who have made the event happen.
45 competition class winners were celebrated in the Prizegiving ceremony. Local produce was awarded as prizes: an edible biscuit medal and some Trentino Cheese!
